Very fortunate with the weather...

It seems we have been very fortunate with the weather by comparison to last severe Winter we were subject to.

However this is a double edge sword.

The comparative mild winter results in pests and pathogens (moulds/viruses) being prolific in multiplying and prospering.

To try to keep this in check you need to keep a 'tidy ship' in your garden.

Ensure your roses have been pruned and all cuttings removed and burnt.

Ensure beetle bands have been placed on your fruit tree trunks to stop awakening bugs from migrating up into your trees.

Ensure all epicormic /basal growth have been removed from Tree bases and suckers from roses as these will drain the nutrient resources from your trees.

Green houses and poly tunnels need rigorous cleaning to ensure overwintering bugs/pathogens are eradicated.

Turn your compost and manure heaps to aerobic access and therefore assisting the bacteria
Be careful that eutrefication doesn't kill off any vulnerable patches in your garden... so a clear run off and soak-away.

Scrub your patios with Jeyes fluid to kill off moss and algae.
